The Electronic Music Industry Just Hit a Record $15.1 Billion

While club closures and rising costs dominate headlines in parts of the scene, the numbers tell a different story at the global level.

A Record-Breaking Year

The global electronic music industry has reached a record valuation of $15.1 billion, according to the 2026 report from the International Music Summit. The sector grew by 7% in 2025, up from $14.2 billion in 2024, and from 6% growth the year before.

Revenue comes from a wide mix of sources: recordings, publishing, streaming platforms, festivals, clubs, creator tools, merch, and brand sponsorships, with streaming and merchandise among the highest performers.

Where the Growth Is Really Coming From

The engine room of growth has shifted toward the Global South. Indonesia alone saw a 77% increase in electronic music listeners on Spotify in 2025, and the genre now ranks as a top-three category in nearly every major global market.

Germany remains the world's single biggest consumer of electronic music on Spotify, with 604 million monthly listeners, ahead of the US and Australia.

Ibiza's Paradox

Ibiza club ticketing revenue hit a record €160 million in 2025, despite a steadily decreasing number of events per venue. The island is moving toward fewer, higher-yield nights rather than more frequent ones.

TikTok Is Reshaping Discovery

There are now over 15 million posts under the #DJ hashtag on TikTok, and electronic music saw 5.7 billion creations on the platform in 2025 alone, with sub-genres like Speed Garage growing 147% year-on-year.

A Mature Industry, Still Evolving

IMS co-founder Ben Turner described AI as a disruptive force the genre is "well placed to meet," adding that electronic music was built on new technology and a willingness to move with it.

The figures confirm something many in the scene already feel: the dancefloor isn't shrinking, it's just changing shape.
